World of Good Development Organization Website

World of Good Development Organization is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization focused on building strategies to substantially improve economic and social conditions for millions of women and adolescent girls in the developing world living on less than $2 a day.

My first approach for the World of Good website was much more graphical and less content focused, but as I continued working on this project I realized how much content was going to be provided. I then redesigned with content and usability in mind. During that time it became clear a a management system was going to be needed. I choose the WordPress for its easy of use to manage content for both me and the client.

Artist at Play Studio Website

Artist at Play Studio’s website is a clean and colorful site built on the WordPress platform. It contains a blog section and various galleries both of art and of student work, all created with flexibility and user control kept in mind. Have a look at the logo as well, which can be found in the Identity section of my portfolio.

Carolina Cobras Mockup

For this project, I needed to create a design mockup for the Carolina Cobra’s website. I generally both design and code my websites, but in this case Web Full Circle was going to be using a CMS and only required the creation of the site’s design. Because of this, I had to be cautious to keep my design extremely precise when working in Photoshop, so there would be no issues later in the pipeline when integrating my design into the CMS.

Continental Product Showcase

For this project I worked with a group of four other students to create a new Continental Airlines logo, website, and commercial. Once complete, I created a product showcase PDF using Photoshop to composite the logo onto different items, which helped us present the new logo. I ended up creating an endtag with this logo as well, which is something I’ve always enjoyed doing.

GFX-Help.com is a community for graphic designers to exchange tips and ask questions. When designing this site, the primary goal was to create a site which would stay organized and be easy for visitors to navigate to their category of interest. vBulletin seemed like a logical choice, with its powerful forum capabilities and solid backend. To save time I started off with a theme from vbskinworks.com as my base, and then applied my own style throughout the theme.

RedBull Magazine Ad Campaign

When I started out I was planning to create an ad campaign for the Toyota Tundra, but I quickly realized that due to a lack of resources it would be a hard subject to work with. Instead I decided to a set of four magazine ads for RedBull Energy Drink, which ended up being one of my favorite projects. Each ad uses a different method of advertising.

Anti-DUI PSA Campaign

The goal of this ad campaign was to create three ads for three different types of environments. I decided to pick a bar bathroom, billboard, and the side of a taxi cab for my 1-800-FREECAB concept. The concept of 1-800-FREECAB is simple…Give people an alternative and safe method for getting home. The most important aspects being the taxi would be free and would arrive in a reasonable amount of time

Ice Gum Website

This website was my final for a web design class. Because it was an introductory web design class and I had already had extensive web design experience, I decided it would be a good time to make the transition into pure CSS designs. I typically had used a combination of tables and CSS, but pure CSS designs are the future. I encountered some issues I was not accustom to, but it turned out to be one of my favorite designs. I was having a lot of fun making the website do I decided to also do some branding as well. In addition to the website, I created the Ice Gum Logo and Packaging. I stumbled upon Illustrator’s 3D tools, which surprisingly had impressive results. The text throughout the pages is mockup text pulled from various gum sites.

Walter Movie Poster

Each class entering Ex’pression College is broken into groups and creates a short film. The senior classes create the movie posters for the freshmen classes. The movie I was assigned was thriller film called Walter. After a few rounds of ideas I decided to go with a minimal design with a very selective color palette.

SF Jazz Festival Postcard

As my final project I had to create a postcard. I picked the SF Jazz Festival as my client and tried to make something fitting. I used an analogous color palette based on the warm colors of the saxophone and a backdrop of San Francisco to add some depth to the piece.

Go Travel Guides Cover Set

As the final exam, I had to create a set of covers for a fictitious company. I used Illustrator to design most of the cover and used photoshop to create the bottom photograph section, which could easily be swapped out with other images as needed. Due to time constraints, only the design of the front & spine were required.

ClutchKill Managed Game Server Hosting Website

The ClutchKill design itself was an extensive process, but the real challenge began once the design was complete. It was difficult to integrate so many different web technologies into site, while keeping the overall design and color scheme consistent to enhance the users’ experience. The goal was to first design the website and then integrate WHMCS as a support system and payment gateway, tcAdmin for managing the client’s game servers, and vBulletin as a community forum. This was one of my longer projects, and I am quite pleased with the final results of design and usability. The transition from differnt areas and control panels was seemless and generated positive feedback from the clients, once the website was live.

When I started the design for this website I found out Colleen already had a good idea of how she wanted the design to look. It was fun being able to create someone else’s vision rather, than creating all design elements myself. Although I executed the actual design, she had a large influence in its direction. I feel the final product not only informs potential clients about her business, but reflects her style nicely as well.

Berkeley Web Design was my personal web design business during my high school and college years. After finishing college I decided to create a new identity to reflect my new skills…The results were SMOR.tv. Besides creating a new website for myself, I added two additional categories in my portfolio, motion and identity.
